Yes. Some loss is possible because JPG uses lossy compression. A good conversion can keep the change visually small, but re-encoding still discards image information. Keep the original HEIC if you may need to edit again or preserve the highest-quality master.
02Why is the JPG larger than my HEIC?
That can happen because HEIC uses newer, efficient image compression, while JPG is an older compatibility format. Converting does not guarantee a smaller file. The main reason to choose JPG is broader software and upload compatibility, not guaranteed size reduction.
03Will JPG open in more apps than HEIC?
Yes. JPG has extremely broad support across operating systems, browsers, office software, upload forms, and messaging tools. That compatibility is the main reason to convert newer or less widely accepted image formats to JPG, even when the source format compresses more efficiently.

05Why won't some apps open my HEIC?
