No. The cue text and timing values are preserved while the syntax is rewritten for SRT. The main timing difference is the millisecond separator and the removal of WebVTT-specific file syntax, not a retiming of the subtitles themselves.
02What happens to VTT positioning and styling?
They can be lost because SRT does not support the same positioning and styling features as WebVTT. The conversion keeps the timed cue text, but WebVTT-specific presentation instructions have no direct SRT equivalent and therefore cannot be preserved faithfully.
03Does the SRT keep the WEBVTT header?
No. SRT does not use the WEBVTT header, so it is removed as part of the format change. The resulting file follows SRT syntax instead, including its cue formatting and millisecond separator, so SRT-compatible players can read it normally.
04Can I edit the SRT after conversion?
Yes. SRT is a plain text subtitle format and can be edited in a caption editor or text editor. Keep the cue numbers and timestamps valid while editing so the player can continue matching each subtitle line to the correct time range.
