Contact sales01Will JPG quality improve after converting to PNG?
No. PNG stops further lossy compression, but it cannot restore detail that the JPG already discarded. Existing blocking, ringing, or blur remains part of the image. The PNG may preserve that current state exactly, but it does not recreate the original uncompressed photo.
02Will the PNG suddenly have transparency?
No. PNG supports transparency, but converting a normal JPG does not automatically know which pixels should become transparent. The existing image remains opaque unless you remove a background separately in an image editor or another dedicated processing step.
03Why is my PNG bigger than the JPG?
PNG is lossless, while JPG is designed to compress photographs by discarding some information. Storing the already-compressed JPG pixels losslessly can therefore require more space. A larger PNG does not mean the conversion added image detail.
04Can I keep editing the PNG without more loss?
Yes. Saving a PNG again does not add JPEG-style generational loss because PNG compression is lossless. That makes it useful as an intermediate working file, although the image still starts with whatever quality was present in the original JPG.
05Why convert JPG to PNG?
Use PNG when a workflow specifically requires PNG or when you want a lossless file for further editing. Do not use it expecting a smaller image or restored quality. For ordinary photos where file size matters, staying with JPG may be more practical.
