No. The cue text and timing are preserved; the format syntax changes around them. VTT uses a WEBVTT header and a different millisecond separator, which makes the file suitable for players and browser workflows that expect WebVTT instead of SRT.
02Why does the VTT file start with WEBVTT?
That header is part of the WebVTT format and tells a compatible player or browser what kind of caption file it is reading. SRT does not use the same header, so seeing WEBVTT after conversion is expected rather than extra subtitle text.
03Does this translate my subtitle text?
No. SRT to VTT changes the caption file format, not the language of the subtitle content. The cue text stays the same while timing syntax is rewritten for WebVTT compatibility. Use a translation workflow separately if the words themselves need another language.
04Can I edit the VTT after conversion?
Yes. VTT is a text-based caption format, so you can open it in a subtitle editor or text editor and change cue text or timings. Be careful to keep the WEBVTT syntax valid so players can still parse the file correctly.
